High Street Primary School, Barry
Introducing Schoolcomms has had a direct impact on reducing our unauthorised absences and has also developed positive communication links with our parents and pupils. The Senior Education Officer for our local authority has highlighted our school’s use of the messaging system as “best practice”. We love the ease of use of the system and the bright eCards for special occasions. Increasing our text credits couldn’t be made easier, and with the dynamic link to SIMS, our data is kept up to date. Looking forward to the new parent’s app being deployed, which will make even more savings on our budget.

Ely St John’s Community Primary School, Cambridgeshire
“The setting up of our Schoolcomms online payments system was quick and easy both for us and for parents. The system imports data directly from SIMS.Net and SIMS Dinner Money so there is no re-inputting of data and parents can see their up-to-date balances at any time. With minimal training needed to operate the system and the fact that in our first week we collected well over £1,000, we have been extremely happy with our decision to move to Schoolcomms.”

Legh Vale, Haydock
“We recently purchased Schoolcomms at Legh Vale Primary School. With almost 600 children on roll, communications with parents are really important and not always easy, especially when you want to contact everyone at the same time or in an emergency! Schoolcomms was really easy to install. It is so simple to use and the support we received by phone was excellent. We were up and running the same day that we raised the Purchase Order! Initially we were interested in whole school communications e.g. school closures in bad weather, but since installing the system we have found it really useful for contacting groups of parents, individuals and school staff. I am quite sure that as it becomes embedded in our everyday communication options, we will wonder what we ever did without it!”

Burscough Priory Science College, Ormskirk
“Schoolcomms has helped Burscough Priory Science College on many occasions over the last few years. When we had the recent snowfall we were able to instantly send a text out to all parents informing them school was closed. We’ve also used it when students are on foreign exchanges/trips. The teacher can send a daily message back to all parents direct from her iPhone. Last year we even woke up a student via text to inform them they were late for a GCSE exam! Parents are also very impressed with the whole system and love the easy two way instant communication!”

Holy Trinity, Barnsley
“It was a long time before our school purchased a package (such as Schoolcomms) to contact parents so we were able to look at a few options and talk to other schools about what was good about their chosen system. As a result we chose Schoolcomms and have been very happy with it ever since. From initially being used in response to bad weather we now use it for a variety of reasons including alerting parents to news items which we can more fully cover on our website. One of the features I like is the ability to set a time for the message to be sent – so we tend to contact parents with news or non urgent items by Schoolcomms at 6.30pm as the dinner table is being cleared! We have purchased an unlimited text package which makes us more able to send a message to say that School is open – despite the light dusting of snow – and prevent parents clogging up the phone system with 1100 parents all asking the same question! Communication is often mentioned in Ofsted questionnaires to parents and we feel Schoolcomms gives us the right balance without bombarding parents with paper which may never make it home. The larger the school the greater the savings in staff time and resources.”

The Lady Eleanor Holles School
“We now send out messages to parents once week, rather than on an ad-hoc basis, which has helped with our Eco for Schools requirements. We can keep parents up to date in ‘real time’ – for example, if we cancel a sporting fixture, because of the speed of communication we now have.”

“Some of our parents live overseas which causes delays when sending whole school communications. Like all schools we like to keep channels of communication open with parents and using Schoolcomms means there are no delays in them receiving messages. The system is really flexible and we can either email, text or for those who prefer a hard copy, the system will print letters.”

Northwood Preparatory School, Hertfordshire
“The new Gateway system has been a great step forward for us to begin to become a cashless school.
We have used it for all visits, day and residential, play tickets, all clubs before and after school. Parents are delighted they can pay 24/7 from anywhere in the world and they don’t have to worry about cash or finding the cheque book. It has meant less work for staff as they haven’t had to chase up money, the Accounts department don’t have loads of cheques coming into their office that need banking. All round success for us!” |
