What was your first job role at Schoolcomms? And today?
I was employed as a Training Consultant, to deliver training to new and existing customers. I am still a Training Consultant but I also now manage the day to day running of the Training Team along with various other responsibilities
How long have you worked at Schoolcomms?
A little over two years.
What made you apply for a job at Schoolcomms?
I was fresh out of university, looking for a great company to start my career. Schoolcomms seemed like an obvious choice as the products looked interesting, they seemed approachable and they are nice and local.
Describe your first week at Schoolcomms
Exciting! I had first day nerves, but when I arrived everyone was really friendly and welcoming. I looked forward to coming back to work to learn more and get to grips with my new job role.
What’s it like working in Bude?
Bude might not have a McDonald’s or a Topshop, but it does have stunning scenery and lovely beaches.
What would a normal working day look like for you?
Each day I usually have 3-4 telephone training sessions booked with schools. In between these calls I arrange training sessions, send follow up emails and take calls from the Support line.
What training and development opportunities have you been able to take advantage of since being at Schoolcomms?
I have been on several courses whilst in employment, including a Microsoft Excel course. I am even a qualified First Aider!
What has most surprised you about your role at Schoolcomms?
How quickly things change, whether its development of products, new members joining the team and the increase of customers. Schoolcomms is a company that is rapidly moving and it’s exciting to be part of it!
Any advice for someone wanting to join your team?
As long as you have a sense of humour, are interested in IT software, and love to help people then you could be perfect for a role within the Training Team.
In your opinion, what makes Schoolcomms a unique place to work?
The career opportunities are great, the people are friendly and my role remains interesting. Lucky to have ticked all three boxes!
Is there anything that you’re particularly proud of that you’ve achieved since being at Schoolcomms?
I’m proud of improvements made to the Training process over the last two years, as well as adding new members to the team.
