Overview

We are seeking a Full Stack Senior Software Developer to join the Schoolcomms Development team.

Once a period of induction and training has concluded you will start to contribute to the improvement of our products and help us extend our already market-leading position. We hope that you will be shipping production code inside the first few days.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will plan, code, and document a range of complex software solutions, including our school and parent facing sites, and service infrastructure.
  • You will work in a Scrum-Agile context, collaborating with business analysts, QA.
  • You will work with other developers to plan, develop, and review code.
  • You will seek to improve our ways of working, participating in Scrum ceremonies such as retrospectives.
  • You will design and develop data models in code which best achieve the goals of a project or solution, using and ORM (Entity Framework), and direct SQL (Dapper & stored procedures) as appropriate.
  • One week in eight, you will serve on third line support, working with other teams to triage and resolve issues. You will develop remedial SQL scripts, builds, and define maintenance work.
  • You will design system components using appropriate modelling techniques, working with architects and business analysts. Your designs will reflect your understanding of the trade-offs being made and capture both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • You will design software components to agreed industry standards, patterns, and methods. These designs will account for security, performance, and existing systems as well as new features.
  • You will design and develop databases and schemas using appropriate techniques. Designs will account for maintainability and performance requirements and will be championed to the rest of the team.
  • You will apply and promote the effective use of the common methods and tools of software development, including IDE expertise, source control, and CI/CD tools such as TeamCity and Octopus.
